Stains on a porcelain sink can be quite frustrating. The cause of the stains will vary from having hard water, to scratches and scrapes on the shinny surface. Cleaning the stains will require some patience and elbow grease.

First, remember to wear gloves and eye protection.

One way to remove the stain is to mix 1 tablespoon of trisodium phosphate with 1 quart of hot water. Use the mixture on a sponge working in a circular motion. Slowly the stain will begin to dissolve. Rinse well with warm soapy water.

Next, dilute 3 tablespoons of bleach in a quart of water. Using the solution scrub the remaining stain off using a nylon pad. Rinse well with warm soapy water.

Removing hard water stains is a bit easier. Simply use warm water with vinegar on a sponge. This will soften up the mineral deposits thereby allowing you to rinse them away.
